Made by hand.
Made to outlast you.

Heartwood designs and builds heirloom furniture and architectural millwork from solid hardwood — joinery cut by hand, finishes rubbed in by hand, pieces meant to be passed down.

What We Make

One workshop, every room.

From a single dining table to a houseful of built-ins, every piece is drawn, joined, and finished by the same hands here in the studio.

Tables

Dining, kitchen, and conference tables in solid walnut, oak, and cherry — live-edge or clean-lined, sized exactly to your room.

Cabinetry

Built-in shelving, media walls, and storage that fits your space to the millimeter and reads like it was always there.

Seating & Beds

Benches, chairs, and bed frames with traditional joinery — comfortable, sculptural, and built to take decades of daily use.

Millwork

Paneling, stairs, mantels, and trim for architects and homeowners who want the woodwork to be the reason people stop and look.

The Studio

A small shop that still does it the slow way.

We're makers, not a factory. Boards are chosen plank by plank, joints are cut to fit rather than glued and stapled, and every surface is hand-finished until it asks to be touched. It takes longer — that's the point.

Our Process

Commissioned & Cherished

Pieces that became part of the family.

“Our walnut dining table is the first thing every guest notices. The grain match across the leaves is flawless — it looks like it grew that way.”

Dining Table · Montford

“They built floor-to-ceiling oak shelving for our awkward old library wall. It fits like it was framed in with the house.”

Built-In Library · West Asheville

“I gave them a rough sketch and a story about my grandfather's workbench. What came back was better than I could have imagined.”

Heirloom Desk · Black Mountain
